Why are Sagittarius and Gemini's opposites?

I've read about both and they say that both signs tend to be witty, intelligent, sarcastic, and humorous. Supposedly they are both flirts, and afraid of commitment, blah, blah, blah, among many other similarities...but ironically they're opposites?
